Collaboration with Alimoli Studio to create metaverse content using the Astro Station IP
Virtual space mirrors the animation setting, offering quizzes and mini-games powered by generative AI
LG Uplus to pursue further partnerships with educational content providers popular among children
On September 1, LG Uplus (CEO Hyun-sik Hwang,
lguplus.com) announced that it is launching a new space-themed educational experience within its metaverse platform
KidsTopia, in collaboration with the 3D sci-fi animation
Astro Station created by Alimoli Studio.
This partnership was formed with the goal of providing children with a positive and immersive metaverse experience—where the knowledge and information they gain from animation can be directly explored and experienced within a virtual environment. In a recent survey of around 1,500 children and parents, space content was ranked as the most desired theme for future exploration in KidsTopia.
Astro Station is Alimoli Studio’s flagship 3D animation series, set in a space pilot training school. The series aims to spark interest and curiosity about space and science among children. It has been recognized for its creative value by being featured in global animation exhibitions such as MIPCOM and Kidscreen, and it is scheduled to air on EBS Media in South Korea later this year.
The new space experience in KidsTopia faithfully recreates the animated settings of Astro Station. Users can interact with generative AI-powered characters from the show, participating in learning activities, mini-games, and quizzes that help them naturally absorb knowledge about the universe.
LG Uplus plans to expand its partnerships with companies that offer educational content loved by children—such as books and animations—to continuously enhance KidsTopia’s competitiveness. The company is particularly focused on producing metaverse-friendly content in high-interest but hard-to-experience areas like dinosaurs, space, and animals.
Meari Kim, CEO of Alimoli Studio, stated:
“This collaboration allows us to expand the value of our IP beyond traditional animation, offering new ways for children to engage with the characters, stories, and settings. Even after the show ends, viewers can continue to immerse themselves in the Astro Station universe, which opens up new possibilities for long-term engagement and monetization.”
Mingu Kim, Head of the Web Business Development Lab at LG Uplus, added:
“The true value of the metaverse lies in its ability to connect space with experience. Through this fusion of animation and immersive metaverse content, we can offer children a deeply engaging user experience. We will continue to pursue cross-industry collaborations like this one to establish KidsTopia as a global leader in metaverse platforms for kids.”
